Double Square Bayleaf is a modern tile design: a checkerboard field of dark taupe and earthy moss-green wool, picked out with small silk accents in caramel, plum and blue that catch the light. Tufenkian weaves it in its Shakti construction, which gives a smooth, low pile of roughly a quarter inch. The muted palette makes it an easy anchor for a dining room or living room in warm neutrals.
Founded by James Tufenkian in New York, the brand hand-cards, hand-spins and hand-knots its rugs in Nepal from Tibetan highland wool that keeps its natural lanolin, which helps the pile resist soil and stains.
From the maker: Tufenkian's Double Square is a modern tile design; Bayleaf grounds taupe and green wool tiles with silk accents, in the brand's smooth Shakti weave.

Hand-knotted and hand-tufted rugs show slight variations in colour, pattern and dimension; they are part of the piece. Vacuum without a beater bar, rotate once or twice a year, and use a rug pad on hard floors. Blot spills immediately with a clean, damp cloth; for anything more, use a professional rug cleaner.

We ship within Canada from our Winnipeg warehouse. Orders are processed in 1–3 business days and shipping is calculated at checkout by destination and rug size. All sales are final: because every rug is one of a kind, we cannot offer returns or exchanges, so please ask us for extra photos or a video before you order. If a rug arrives damaged, email photos of the rug and packaging to contact@bmdmaterials.com within 48 hours of delivery and we will start a carrier claim with you.
