Size guide
Every rug we sell is one of a kind, and every listing shows its measured size in feet and centimetres. Use this guide to pick the right one, then tape the exact dimensions on your floor before you buy.
Living room
The front legs of all seating should sit on the rug. An 8′ × 10′ suits most three-seat sofas; choose 9′ × 12′ or larger for bigger or open-plan rooms. A 5′ × 8′ works for a loveseat and two chairs in a smaller room.
Dining room
Allow at least 24 inches (60 cm) beyond the table on every side so chairs stay on the rug when pulled out. A table for six usually needs an 8′ × 10′; a table for eight or more, 9′ × 12′.
Bedroom
An 8′ × 10′ under a queen bed leaves 18–24 inches showing on each side; use 9′ × 12′ under a king. For a lighter touch, place a 3′ × 5′ on each side of the bed.
Entry and hallway
A 3′ × 5′ or 4′ × 6′ suits most entries; use a runner for hallways and kitchens, leaving a few inches of floor showing around the edges.
Rule of thumb
When torn between two sizes, choose the larger. A rug that is too small makes a room feel smaller; one that fills the seating area anchors it.
